News Article Allies joins Little Lifts for a volunteering day
5 members of the Allies team visited Norfolk-based charity Little Lifts this week for a volunteer packing day.
Little Lifts is a unique charity who provide thoughtfully curated gift boxes to every breast cancer patient in the UK receiving chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment. In the East of England, they work directly with hospitals to give free Little Lift Boxes to patients during their treatment planning or review meetings.
The Allies team worked with Little Lifts to carefully pack boxes for patients. They managed to fill 100 boxes in their morning session.
The hand-picked gifts are little luxuries to support patients through their treatments. Each box includes carefully chosen items selected by people who have personal experience of chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment for breast cancer.
Rachel Potter, Business Support Executive for Allies, says, “It was really enjoyable to get together with colleagues and to do something worthwhile. I found it empowering to hear some of the stories about how the charity came about and what they do and it was very fulfilling to be able to help them in a small way.”
Every year in the UK 55,000 women and 350 men are diagnosed with breast cancer, making it the most common cancer. So far over 19,000 boxes have been gifted by Little Lifts. Their aim is to reach every breast cancer patient, with the motto “a little kindness goes a long way”.
