This policy explains how Allies Computing Ltd ("Allies", "our" and "we") protects your personal information and sets out our responsibilities under the Data Protection Act 2018 ("GDPR").

Personal information we may receive

We may receive the following information through our websites, products and everyday business operations:

  • Identifiers such as a postcode, address fragment, email address, phone number and IP address which are provided in product requests to lookup an address, validate an email address and other similar features
  • Commercial information such as company name, contact name, work address, work email address and work phone number
  • Internet and device information such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system and referring web page
  • Employment information such as education details, employment history and other relevant personal data provided in an employment application
  • Financial data such as credit card data is not processed by Allies. Instead, credit card data is processed by Squareup and Elavon, our third-party PCI-certified payment processors

How we use personal information

We may use the information we receive for the following purposes:

  • To communicate with you, including responding to enquiries and providing customer support
  • To process transactions and fulfil orders
  • To provide, maintain, secure and improve our website and products
  • To send promotional and marketing communications, where permitted by law
  • To comply with legal obligations

How we store personal information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the information.

After receiving the information, we keep it only for as long as necessary.

To whom we may disclose personal information

We may disclose the information we receive for the following purposes:

  • To trusted partners that we engage to process data on our behalf; see our sub-processors
  • To trusted data suppliers so that we can licence their reference data to you through our products
  • To the extent that we are required to do so by law
  • In connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings
  • To establish, exercise or defend our legal rights (including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention and reducing credit risk)
  • To the purchaser (or prospective purchaser) of any business or asset which we are (or are contemplating) selling

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • The right of access, which gives you the right to ask us for copies of your personal information
  • The right to rectification, which gives you the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete
  • The right to erasure, which gives you the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances
  • The right to restriction of processing, which gives you the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances
  • The right to object to processing, which gives you the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances
  • The right to data portability, which gives you the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
